Meet Rachel. This beautiful young woman went from having dark, luxurious long wavy hair to the bald pageant queen in a matter of minutes. She tied her hair high at the crown of her head and held it together tightly while her husband cut through the pony tail. Sixteen glorious inches of beautiful hair any woman would envy, gone. It begs the question, why? Why would any woman remove 16 inches of hair? Was it for money? No. Was it for love? In a manner of speaking. This now bald pageant queen donated her beautiful hair to Locks of Love. There was not a specific person or event that prompted her generosity. She simply told me that everyone has been touched by cancer and donating her hair was something she felt compelled to do. “It was the right time for me to do it, so I did.”
Rachel won numerous pageants during her 12 years of competing and currently holds the Mrs. Illinois Galaxy title. In my book, donating her hair is her crowning glory. Rachel’s hair will be made into a wig for a cancer patient. She has helped a woman somewhere feel beautiful while enduring the ugliness of chemo treatments. Good on you, Rachel!
We had so much fun at her photo shoot. You can see her personality shine through in these images. Rachel is funny, sincere, generous, and fierce.
